Porter started sailing Wayfarers at the age of eleven and by his
mid- teens started to race within this class. He also worked at
a local sailing school to earn pocket money to spend on his boat
and was always out sailing on every day and weekend when he was
this time, he has gone onto win numerous World and National
Sailing Championships in a large variety of classes. These wins
include the principle trophies in the Wayfarer, Osprey and
Wanderer classes as well as countless Area titles.
As a result of this success he has run training camps through
overseas in places as varied asLagos (Nigeria)
the same time he teamed up with his brother to run Porter
Brothers that started building wooden Wayfarers as far back as
the early 1980’s . The success of this venture eventually lead
to Ian Proctor granting the Porters theGRP licence
for Wayfarers and Ospreys. When Neville Towler retired with
Anglo Marine, Porter Brothers were again awarded the Licences
for the Wanderer and the Gull from Ian Proctor Designs . At the
same time the company was involved in the building of Albacores,
Y.W Dayboats, International 14’s, and a host of other classes.
The vast amount of experience in sailing, teaching, racing,
building and repairing boats is available to all customers
to aid the enjoyment and use of their sailing dinghy

outlet for Hartley Laminates and their range of dinghies.
